Help when you need it - F A S T !

After sending Linda instructions on how to defrag her hard drive properly... Just want to (finally) thank you for your help. I was able to do the defrag in the safe mode, it did restart a couple times- but it did get it done!   My computer is not XP, but 98SE.  Thanks for the other advice, and of course your column--

Bet that was the farthest away that someone asked for your help from the newspaper article you publish. I am in Ft Myers Florida and read your article while in Westerly this past Summer. Thank you so much!  I followed all your steps and when I restarted the computer (step 8), and the computer came back on, all those nasty messages that I had been getting everyday disappeared!  I have chosen a time for the automatic updates so I think all is well.
